Statistical Deviation

Dave Winer claims that his RSS feed is “the most-subscribed-to feed in the world.” Maybe amongst people willing to generate an OPML file and upload it to his server, but he only ranks number 3 on the Feedster Top 100, and he doesn’t even make the Top 20 over at Bloglines.

(And really, is comparing your file format to that of Lotus 1–2-3 really going to inspire confidence in its longevity?)

Thanks for the data, I changed my post to say it's a "top-ranked-feed." This is one of the cool things about weblogs, as new data becomes available, you can get more accurate.

Also, I think comparing it to Lotus is good. It was a great product in its day. I assume readers of my site are not only intelligent, but grown up, and won't think less of my site or my feed because I show respect for products that made a big contribution, even if it was in the past.

Thanks again for the help.

I just re-read your comment. Lotus was very long-lived. It shipped in 1982 and was in use through the mid-90s, actually I'm pretty sure it's still in use somewhere. Great product and hugely popular.
